TO TRAILHEAD: From South Lake Tahoe, go 7 mi. on US 50 W to Johnson Pass Rd.; turn R. In .8 mi., turn R onto Echo Lakes Rd. Follow for 1.2 mi. to large parking lot on L side of road. Trail starts @ Lower Echo Lakes dam, N of resort.
