Excellent trail network in Kanopolis State Park traverses mixed grass prairie ridgelines and rugged canyons. A number of fascinating formations have been carved by wind and water from the Dakota Sandstone of the canyons. Be prepared for high water crossings if venturing past the Buffalo Tracks Canyon Trail. TO TRAILHEAD: From I-135 take K-4 west to K-141. Go north on K-141 across the dam and turn west to the state park entrance.
