This trip is only a part of the original Devil's Path trail. We started at Meads Mountain Rd in Woodstock, followed the Overlook trail to Mountain House ruins and to Overlook Mountain, then passed the Lake Echo and  joined the Devil's Path at Devil's Kitchen Lean-to. From here we followed the Path via Indian Head, Twin and Sugarloaf Mts to Mink Hollow Trail and ended the trip at the parking lot on Mink Hollow Road in Lake Hill, off Rt 212.
It took us 2 days to finish the trip on a quite relaxing schedule - each day we hiked only 5-6 hours with many stops for resting and enjoying the astonishing scenery  of a colorful fall foliage of Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains.

TO TRAILHEAD: From NYC/NJ area: I-87 North to exit 19, Rt.28 West to Rt.375, Rt.375 ends at Rt.212, take 212 west to Rock City Rd (County Rte 33 then 47A) which becomes Mead Mountain Rd in Woodstock, NY. Trail starts accross the road form Buddhist Monastery.

Steep descent

Here is what I read on Internet about this area and I completely agree:"Another tricky downclimb in the middle of a difficult downhill section that's very rocky with lots of loose footing and wet, often treacherous surfaces. In winter, these slabs get iced up and become skating rinks; don't even bother without crampons." Thanks jareth6 for advice!
