TRAX, SLC's lightrail system has made it possible for visitors to Salt Lake's big convention industry to head to the hillls. Simply catch a ride at the Main street and 400 South station, and in 10 minutes you can leave the city behind. SLC's Foothills offer endless biking, trail-running and hiking just seconds away from busy office parks and hospitals. To Trailhead Take the 400S TRAX to the last stop at the UMED Center, and after a quick walk to the hillls you'll wonder why you ever settled for stuffy General Session meetings in the Salt Palace.

Bonneville at Red Butte Garden

Trail meets back up with Bonneville Shoreline Trail at the Red Butte Garden Parking Area. These Gardens Feature Water Conservation Gardening at its best. Procede R to complete loop, or L for longer Journey.

Bonneville Shorline Trail

Location: 40.769356, -111.829819
The Bonneville Shorline Trail runs alongside medical center parking lots. Treck through the brush to catch trail. From here there are a multiplicity of trails and hiking opportunities. The Best ones are to the R.

Gravel Road

Location: 40.768303, -111.824722
Descend to gravel Road and small parking area. Popular stop with the bycicle and stroller set. head up canyon.

Low Foothills

Location: 40.764992, -111.821693
Trail splits into game trails. committ to one and take it down to Bonnevile Shoreline.

Red Butte Canyon Entrance

Location: 40.767933, -111.827347
Follow one of the many trails leading into the canyon. A few of them dead end, but it is easy enough to find another down to the main gravel road leading into canyon.

Red Butte Lookout

Location: 40.769814, -111.817383
High Elevation Point of Trail. Breathtaking veiws of Salt Lake Valley and the Great Salt Lake in the Distrance.

Red Butte Skyline Trailhead

Location: 40.774506, -111.817902
Gravel Road Ends at Water Conservation Road Block. To the R are steps down to a footbridge and beginning of Red Butte Skyline Trail. The next Section gains alot of altitude as it switchbacks through scrub and gambrel oak and red sedimentary crags.

Rock Wall

Trail Crosses low Retaining wall. May require high stepping or moderate scrambling.

Trail Splits. Take R to Bonnevile Trail. Take L to climb higher onto ridge.

UMED Stairs

Location: 40.770493, -111.832191
Complete loop at Stairs and procede back to TRAX Station.

UMed Trax Station

Location: 40.770084, -111.838890
The last stop on the 400 S trax line accross from Primary Childrens Medical Center. From here Procede R or L on surface streets or wind through maze of medical buildings towards the mountains.
