This 5.8 mile out and back trip passes through chaparral, along a riparian corridor, and up the side of a mountain to a Monument dedicated to the man who donated this land for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Springtime normally brings many wildflowers. Over half of the hike is in Mugu State Park. DIRECTIONS: From Los Angeles, take Highway 101 W to Thousand Oaks. Exit at Wendy Drive. Go south on Wendy until it dead ends at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. There is ample parking at the trailhead.
