Desolation Wilderness, CA: Wrights Lake to Clyde Lake

For my weekend solo hike I went to Desolation Wilderness. I took the RockBound Trailhead from Wrights Lake to Clyde Lake and back. On my return from Clyde Lake I "bushwacked" over the Crystal Range to Island Lake and then continued my journey back to my car at Wrights Lake.

Take Rockbound Trail north until you reach China Flat Trail.  Take the China Flat trail until you reach the Clyde Lake Trail.  Clyde Lake is about 1 mile off China Flat.

Returning back to camp; make your way back out to China Flat Trail.  Once you reach China Flat Trail start making your way towards Lake Aloha.  On your way to Lake Aloha you will reach Mosquito Pass, this is where you start "bushwacking" east.

You will scramble across rocks for about 2 miles until you are due east, and looking down at Clyde Lake.  This is where you will descend towards Island Lake.

Once you reach Island Lake you can follow the Wrights Trail all the way back to Wrights Lake.

TO TRAILHEAD: From South Lake Tahoe, CA, head south on US 50. In roughly 24 miles, turn right onto Wrights Lake Rd. In 7.7 miles, continue on Union Rd. F. Follow 0.3 mile to the parking lot for the Rockbound Trailhead.
