For a longer ride take Avent ferry to NCSU's centennial campus and form there you can get to the farmers market.  Ebenezer Church is very light on traffic and has a lot of undulating hills that are not difficult.  Lake Boone Trail seems to be in a valley so there is a short descent and short ascent, but the grade is fairly steep.
