Great Falls Park in Virginia ranks among America's finest nature sanctuaries amongst an urban and suburban landscape. This 2.2-mile loop takes you to the ruins of a company village and a canal, but bragging rights go to the river vistas. You'll hike along the Potomac River's Virginia shore watching kayakers brave the currents and climbers scramble up the cliffs.
