Over, under and around ... Old Rag, Va., in Shenandoah National Park gives hikers an introduction to what western backpackers have enjoyed for generations. This 9.3-mile loop includes a more-than-a-mile-long scramble over granite boulders to the 3,268-foot summit, where you receive an around-the-world look at the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Virginia piedmont.
